Philippine Flood Relief

AKSM has distributed relief goods to flood-stricken areas in provinces north of Manila.  We encourage donations to the Philippine Red Cross.  We have a few photos of the distribution in our Photo page.

Happy Lunar New Year!

Care for Tribes International currently works mainly in East and Southeast Asia where the lunar new year is celebrated by the East Asian population.  New Year celebrations are an important part of people's cultures and we are happy that such centuries old traditions are very much alive despite uncertain times.  We wish all a happy lunar new year!

New office in Malaysia


We've been busy for the past few months setting up a new office in Malaysia.  Hopefully, we'll have it fully up and running by September.

AKSM held its annual Sunrise Festival in Ilocos last November 24 and showcased the indigenous art, music and dances of the country to both local and foreign participants. As part of its focus, CFTI actively supports AKSM projects related to the preservation and promotion of local culture

We've finished connecting pipes to bring running water to the toilet facilities in Chiang Mai.  We've completed 53 sanitation facilities and are preparing plans to expand to other tribal villages.

Thu, together with the Vinh Khang group, visited the Van Mon Leprosarium (Trại phong Văn Môn)in Thái Bình province in Vietnam last month to give food packs to the patients.  Approximately 30 patients participated in the event

We've succeeded in our irrigation project for a group of Aetas in Bicol Province in cooperation with a mining company.  This included clearing raw land and creating a water supply for a small farm to feed and provide livelihood for the local tribe.

Deo Palma's new book entitled 'Maharlika: In Search of Identity" is finally out!  In this book, he discusses the real historical significance of the name Maharlika, together with other possible alternate names of the Philippines such as Luzviminda, Rizalia, Narra, and Bayanihan among many others.  He also outlines specific socio-economic reforms that the new leaders should undertake to attain true progress and prosperity.
